Dr. Scott Wigginton, Ph.D., LMFT
The Lighthouse Counseling Center is a ministry of
Campbellsville Baptist Church that began
in 2006 and has provided almost 4000 hours of professional
Christian counseling to individuals, couples, and families.
The purpose of a lighthouse is to provide guidance to bring persons
to safe harbor, thus avoiding the rocky shoals and devastating
consequences that often come with both careless and even
well-intentioned errors of navigation in difficult weather and storms
at sea. Lighthouse Counseling Center exists to help persons who
are interested in seeing a professional counselor who serves under
the tutelage of the Wonderful Counselor who is both the
Light and the Guide.
Counseling services are open to all persons in the community
regardless of church affiliation. Members of Campbellsville Baptist
Church may receive up to six hours of counseling per calendar year
with only a minimal charge.
People come to counseling for a number of concerns. These are often quite diverse and include: depression, anxiety, life management, substance abuse, marriage, parenting, and pre-marital counseling. In addition, persons have sought help for eating disorders, abuse, grief and loss, recovery from infidelity, post-traumatic stress, spiritual warfare, job loss and adjustment, career guidance, school problems, and a variety of spiritual concerns.
Dr. Scott Wigginton serves part-time as the Counseling Pastor at Campbellsville Baptist Church and the Director of Lighthouse. A licensed marriage and family therapist as well as a licensed pastoral counselor, he served from 1987 through 2004 as Executive Director of the LifeCare Counseling Center and Counseling Minister at Walnut Street Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. In addition to his B.A. from Western Kentucky University, he has earned M.Div., Th.M., and Ph.D. degrees from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is a clinical member and Approved Supervisor of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, a former clinical member of the American Group Psychotherapy Association, a Fellow with the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, and a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.
Dr. Wigginton serves full-time as Professor of Pastoral Ministries & Counseling at Campbellsville University. Besides counseling and teaching, he has written a family column for the Western Recorder, the weekly newspaper for the Kentucky Baptist Convention, since 2001. He has been married to Elizabeth since 1986 and they are the proud parents of Auburn, Hope, and Caleb.
