Staff Bios

Dr. Mike O'Neal , Senior Pastor

Mike began serving Campbellsville  Baptist Church in August 2013.  He’s pastored in Texas, Tennessee, and most recently in Louisville, Kentucky. He’s also been an adjunct faculty member of Southern Seminary, Boyce College, and Campbellsville University.

His vision for ministry is to glorify God by leading a local church to be healthy, vibrant, and growing, obeying the Great Commission of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit.  Mike’s ministry passions are preaching the Bible, sharing the gospel, and discipling believers.

Mike has been married to Sarah since 1988 and they have three children.  In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, physical fitness, music, and reading.

He’s a graduate of the University of Kentucky (BA 1987), Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv 1990), and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (PhD 1996).  Mikes first book, Interpreting Habakkuk as Scripture, was published in 2007.  He’s also written for Preaching magazine.

Brad Lauer began his time with Campbellsville Baptist Church in May 2008. He holds degrees from Kentucky Wesleyan College and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. More than anything in ministry, Brad loves to create experiences for people to encounter Christ in small group and large group settings where relationships form with other believers. The second greatest love in Brad's life after Jesus Christ is his life-partner, Jennifer and they have been married since August 1994. God has blessed Brad and Jennifer with two wonderful children, Madison and Micah. In Brad's spare time he enjoys family outings, golf, basketball and biking




David Johnson, Worship Pastor


David Johnson accepted the call into full time Christian service in 1984 and holds a Master of Church Music degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Joining the ministry team as Worship Pastor in July 1997, David has been instrumental in the creation of our contemporary worship service and the development of the Praise Team Ministry. Working with the youth choir "Salt," he enjoys taking the youth on mission trips and encouraging them to experience the movement of God in unique and powerful ways. He believes the Christian walk is summed up in one word - "Journey." His goal is to use the means of music and the arts to assist other pilgrims in their own path. When David is not serving our church he enjoys time alone hiking or canoeing. David has been married to his high school sweetheart Pam since 1978 and they have three wonderful daughters, and a precious Highland Terrier.


Cole Torbert, Worship Ministry Associate 

Cole Torbert has recently joined the staff of Campbellsville Baptist Church as Worship Ministry Associate. He has been a member of CBC since 2013.0Cole is a double graduate of Campbellsville University. He finds his true passion in leading others in worship. He first sensed God’s calling to worship ministry during his college years. Cole served as a worship leader for several years with Campbellsville University’s Baptist Campus Ministries, First Class program, as well as leading worship with other ensembles from the university. Cole has also served in choirs and other ensembles in church from the time he was a child. Cole is grateful to the Lord for the gift of music and feels so blessed that he is able serve in this role at Campbellsville Baptist Church. His ultimate goal in leading worship is to lift high the name of Jesus and point the worshippers to the Savior.

 In his free time, Cole enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, listening to music, and trying new foods.




Justin McDonald, Activities Pastor

CLC Activities

Justin began his time as Activities Pastor in June 2010. He is a native of LaGrange, KY. Justin began his undergraduate studies at the University of Kentucky in 2002 but eventually transferred to the University of the Cumberlands where he received a scholarship to play baseball. Justin studied Movement and Leisure and Religion while at UC, and graduated in 2006. After graduating college, Justin attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas where he received the degree Master of Arts of Christian Education with a concentraion in Church Recreation. Justin has served in Recreation Ministry since 2003, ministering in churches in Louisville, KY, Dallas, TX, and Atlanta, GA. He enjoys all aspects of recreation ministry, specifically sports camps and mission trips. He serves as an adjunct professor at Campbellsville University. He is married to Jessica and has 2 beautiful daughters, Kathryn Grace and Eva Jane, and a dog named Bailey. Justin enjoys cooking, playing sports, running and all things University of Kentucky. "Go Big Blue!"


Dr. Scott Wigginton, Counseling Pastor

Dr. Scott Wigginton serves part-time as Counseling Pastor at Campbellsville Baptist Church in addition to his full-time position as Professor of Pastoral Ministries and Counseling at Campbellsville University. A licensed marriage and family therapist as well as licensed pastoral counselor, he served from 1993-2004 as Executive Director of LifeCare Counseling Center and Counseling Minister at Walnut Street Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. Scott has been married to Elizabeth since 1986 and they are proud parents of Auburn, Hope and Caleb. Scott has earned M. Div., Th.M., and Ph.D. degrees from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and is a Clinical member and Approved supervisor of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy as well as a Fellow with the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and former clinical member of the American Group Psychotherapy Association. In addition to counseling and teaching, he has written a family column for the Western Recorder, the weekly newspaper for the Kentucky Baptist Convention, since 2001.


Will Burgess, Associate Pastor for Youth

Will's Blog

Will began serving Campbellsville Baptist Church in October of 2014. He had previously ministered to students in Indiana for 15 years. Will attended Boyce College in Louisville and later completed his Bachelor's in Ministry and Leadership from Crossroads Bible College in Indianapolis.

 Will is passionate about student ministry and seeing students not only come to Christ, but to devote their lives to Him day to day. He is also passionate about sharing God's Word and evangelism. Will loves to see students grow spiritually. He enjoys teaching students how to serve the community through mission trips.

Will and his wife Jenny have been married 20 years and  have 4 sons, Levi, CJ, Jonah, and Ethan. In his spare time he enjoys biking, playing football and basketball, gardening and working on vehicles.




Karen Edwards, Senior Pastor Ministry Assistant

Karen Edwards joined the CBC staff in January 2005. As Ministry Assistant to the Senior Pastor her passion is to do whatever it takes to be helpful and involved and to help minister to those who walk through the doors of Campbellsville Baptist Church. A native of Campbellsville, Karen is a pastor's wife and a great asset to her husband Kelvin, who is pastor of Aetna Grove Baptist Church in Green County. Karen and Kelvin have been married since 1982 and have two daughters and one grandchild.




Carrie Gaddis, Worship Ministry Assistant

Since May 2006, Carrie has served as Ministry Assistant to the Worship Pastor. Her role is to support the work of the worship/music ministry and to help implement the vision cast by the Worship Pastor. Much of her time is spent working with the print media and other communications projects. Her goal is to serve the members of CBC with kindness and respect. Carrie graduated from Campbellsville University with her degree in Office Management and also earned her Masters of Business Administration from CU. She met her husband Mitch while in college at CU and they have been married since October 1997. They minister together in many areas of the worship ministry including Adult Choir, Praise Team, Orchestra and Children's Choirs.

Charity Powell, Discipleship Ministry Assistant

Charity is a graduate of Campbellsville University with a bachelor’s degree in Educational Ministries in 2007 and Masters of Science in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2013. She is passionate about ministry and loving people like Jesus. Over the last 10 years she has traveled to over 15 countries, and is always ready for the next adventure. Charity’s desire is to love and serve her church family through her position at CBC. She is involved in many aspects of ministry in the church including Youth small groups on Wednesday and Sunday nights, Praise Team, and Adult Choir. Seeing people changed by the reality of Jesus’ love in their life is her ultimate goal.



Anne Russell Blevins,
CLC/Activities Ministry Assistant

My name is Anne Russell Blevins and I was born and raised in Campbellsville, Ky.  I graduated from Campbellsville University in May of 2012 with a BS Degree in P-12 Health and Physical Education.  I am currently working towards a master’s degree in sports management.  I am also the graduate assistant for the School of Education at Campbellsville University.  I have been involved in the activities ministry here at CBC since 2003.  I love sharing about God through sports and seeing people come to Jesus because of its ministry.  I have a passion for sports and coaching.  I enjoy being with my family, friends and my four dogs.  I am very excited to see what God has in store for me next.
