Monday morning everyone woke up excited about our first day of ministry in Downpatrick.    As a side note, because of Northern Ireland child laws, we are not legally able to take pictures of any of the children we are working with.  So you will not see any pictures of our students working with the children of the area.

9:00                        Everyone was up and ready on time for breakfast.  We had cereal and some of Jo’s awesome leftover pancakes from Sunday.

10:00                     After the kids finished their chores, we all met in the learning block to learn about Judges from John Moxen.  All of the kids enjoyed his perspective.  We learned about God using those with a disadvantage, like Ehud, to fulfill his purpose and those who were raised with advantages, like Samson, who failed to live up to their full potential.

11:00                     The juniors and seniors went to a caravan park, which is like a trailer park or RV park where people go for holiday.  There was a great turnout of about twenty kids.  The youth introduced the Frisbee to the kids and they absolutely loved it and also played soccer with them.

1:00                        Jo Moxen cooked a delicious lunch for us.  For the most part, it was the first time the kids had eaten Shepherd’s pie and they enjoyed it.

3:00-5:00              All of the youth went out to have our first VBS for the week.  One team went to a park in Knocknashinna, one to Bridge Street, one to Kennedy Square, and one to Strangeford Road.  We had a small turnout due to the Holiday, but the kids there really enjoyed it.

5:30                        For dinner Jo Moxen cooked chicken pot pie and chips (French fries).

7:30-9:30              The four teams went out again to the same location for VBS with the youth.  The turnout was much more than expected.  Most of the teams had 20-35 kids and youth.  We played games and already began relationships.

10:00                     During our worship time we had students request prayers for children and youth they met that day by specific name.  We came together as a group and shared our praises for the day.  We prayed together for God to take us out of our comfort zones and to stretch us.

11:30                     Lights out after a long, and awesome, day of ministry
