Trip Itinerary

Day 6
6-26-08

After a quick breakfast at the dorm, we were off to Sandbridge Beach for some games and swim time. Noodle relays into the surf (around David Johnson and back)….carry water from the ocean to your bucket using a noodle…noodle jousting/knock the bucket off the head…and sand sculptures….lots of fun competition. After a few hours of being covered with freezing salt water and sand, we said goodbye to the beach and headed off for more adventures.

We made an “emergency” shopping stop for all those students who had not managed to spend enough of their money on souvenirs. We ate box lunches on the bus on the way back to the dorms. Quick showers and then we were off for some more ministry time.

We joined with folks from Conerstone to offer free car washes to people in the community. We washed, dried, and vacuumed cars and trucks for four hours in some pretty serious heat. Each “customer” received information about Conerstone Bible Church along with Frisbees, water bottles, and ice scrapers. One man accidently locked his keys in his truck while we washed it…thankfully we had someone with the skills to break into locked vehicles (Thanks Mike).

A very hot, tired, and hungry group of students descended on CiCi’s Pizza for some much needed refreshment. The staff had to be the most “cheerful” of any CiCi’s. We offered our good job cheer before we left.

Pastor Stacy Potts and his wife Jamie treated us to some great gelati and custard at Rita’s. We presented them with a mission trip shirt and 412 rooted shirts. Dave offered them a copy of our tour book containing a well-planned week improved upon by the Holy Spirit. We also gave them a beautiful model of a sailing ship to remind them of the week we spent together in ministry. Lots of hugs and lots of photos and we managed to say goodbye to the Potts.

Back on the bus we headed to the dorms for an early bedtime in preparation for an early morning. Of course an early bedtime means 11:30. Some of the dorm rooms look like the suitcases exploded. It will be interesting to see if it all goes back inside the suitcases in time to depart at 7 a.m.
